’10 Saal Tak Bhi Koi Trophy Nahi Jeetengey’ – Fans call out skipper Rohit Sharma and management for ignoring Umran Malik from playing XI of 1st ODI against NZ
[ad_1]
Star Indian speedster and J&K’s bowling sensation Umran Malik impressed everyone with his sheer pace in the recently concluded white-ball assignment against Sri Lanka. The pacer clocked a speed of 156 kmph which is the highest by any Indian bowler who ever played the game in limited-overs cricket.
But in a surprising and shocking turnaround of things, the skipper Rohit Sharma and Indian team management haven’t picked Umran in the playing XI of the ongoing first of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Skipper opted to go with pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur as a replacement for the 23-year-old star pacer.
This decision from the management didn’t really go down well with the Indian Cricket Fans and they took time in taking to Twitter and lashing out at Rohit Sharma and the management as well. Fans also termed it irresponsible behavior given the fact that it is a World Cup year.
Here’s how fans reacted:
What A Pathetic Decision Taken By Indian Team Management , Captain And Coach ..Drop Wicket Taker Umran Malik For Shardul Thakur 😭😭🤦🤦😡😡Yai Team Aisai Hi Kartai Rahi Na Lagai 10 Saal Tak Bhi. Koi ICC Trophy Nahi Jeetai Gai 🤦🤦 #CricketTwitter

Umran should be playing instead of Shami Or Shardul. He is the bowling sensation and the reason to watch the match. Poor decision by Rohit. #Umranmalik @BCCI

Dravid coaching style is best suited for academy level kids where he can do constant chipping in & out of players without any reason #UmranMalik

Speaking of the ongoing first ODI between India and New Zealand, the hosts are batting first after winning the toss. The team has lost the big wickets of skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli. Currently, the men in blue have scored 105 runs for the loss of two wickets in 19 overs.
Star opener Shubman Gill has completed his half-century in a fashion with a brilliant six at the time of filling this copy. Gill and Ishan Kishan are there in the middle on the individual scores of 53 and 5 runs respectively.
Blair Tickner and Mitchell Santner have scalped one wicket each for the visitors so far. Notably, both teams are playing this series opener at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The next two matches will be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur and Holkar Stadium in Indore respectively.
Interestingly, both India and New Zealand are coming off the series wins in their respective assignments against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. India clinched the series against the Islanders by a thumping margin of 3-0 whereas New Zealand defeated the men in green by 2-1 in the three-match ODI series.
