3 players from Bangalore franchise to appear in inaugural season of SA20 2023
The much-anticipated T20 tournament SA20 2023 is set to commence tomorrow, the 10th of January with the inaugural match between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. The first-ever season of the tournament will feature six teams owned by the franchises of the Indian T20 League.
The six participating teams in the tournament are Durban Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape Squad. Notably, there are also a few players playing in the SA20 who are also a part of the franchises of the Indian T20 League.
With said that, here we’ll have a look at the three players of Bangalore’s team who will be a part of the teams playing in the inaugural edition of the SA20 tournament.
Faf Du Plessis
The 38-year-old Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis led Bangalore during the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League. He is likely to be the captain of the team during the upcoming 16th edition of the tournament. Du Plessis has had an Indian T20 League career of a decade since his debut for Chennai almost 10-11 years back in the year 2012. Later on, he was picked by Bangalore and given the captaincy after the former skipper Virat Kohli stepped down.
The veteran of 116 Indian T20 League matches is also set to appear in the upcoming SA20 tournament. He will lead Johannesburg Super Kings owned by the Chennai franchise of the Indian T20 League.
