‘A comfortable victory’ – Fans praise the Sri Lankan Legends for an emphatic win against England Legends


England Legends and Sri Lanka Legends faced each other in the fifth match of the Road Safety World Series 2022. Sri Lankan skipper TM Dilshan won the toss and asked the English team to bat first at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Batting first, the English side could manage to post a low total of only 78 runs for the loss of all wickets in 19 overs.

While chasing the target, the Sri Lankan team managed to cross the line in 14.3 overs with a score of 79 runs for the loss of three wickets and won the match by seven wickets. Notably, it is the second consecutive win for Sri Lanka Legends in the tournament.

Cricket fans also heaped their praises on Dilshan & co. for their brilliant performances against England. They took to Twitter for appreciating the performance of the Lankan tigers.

Speaking furthermore about the match, then the opening pair of English skipper Ian Bell and Phil Mustard gave a slow start to the team. They both stitched a partnership of only 25 runs in six overs for the first wicket. Ian Bell ended up as the highest run-scorer for the English team with 15 runs. Other than him, none of the English batters could impress with the bat.

Former legendary Sri Lankan skipper Sanath Jayasuriya delivered a very excellent performance with the ball as he scalped four wickets by conceding just three runs in his quota of four overs with two maidens. Other than Jayasuriya, Chaturanga de Silva and Nuwan Kulasekara also scalped two wickets each.

While chasing the target, the Sri Lankan team comfortably crossed the line with the help of some fruitful knocks for Dilshan Munaweera (24 runs off 43 balls) and Upul Tharanga (23 runs off 19 balls).
