Abu Dhabi T10 League: Day 9 Roundup- Sheer dominance helps teams get two points on the board
Three matches were played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Day nine of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. The first match of the day was between the Delhi Bulls and the New York Strikers, and the second match was between the Bangla Tigers and Team Abu Dhabi. The day’s final match pitted Morrisville Samp Army against Deccan Gladiators. All the matches saw some dominant performances. Here is a round-up of day nine of the tournament.
Match 23- Delhi Bulls vs New York Strikers
Delhi Bulls put up a decent display with the bat, scoring 112/6 in the first innings. Tom Banton was at the top of his game, having scored 46 runs in just 23 balls. For the New York Strikers, Jordan Thompson and Stuart Binny were the picks of the bowlers, with two wickets each.
The Strikers got off to a shaky start in the chase, losing two early wickets in quick succession. However, Eoin Morgan, Azam Khan and Kieron Pollard got the team back in the chase. Each played a cameo, scoring 32, 37, and 26, respectively. This was enough for the Strikers to chase down the target with two balls and seven wickets to spare.
Match 24- Bangla Tigers vs Team Abu Dhabi
Team Abu Dhabi bowlers completely dominated the batters of the Bangla Tigers in the 24th match. They never let them settle in and keep taking wickets regularly. Adil Rashid and Fabian Allen took wickets each, while Andrew Tye took one to restrict the Tigers to a score of 74/5.
In the chase, Abu Thabi lost an early wicket in Alex Hales, but Chris Lynn and James Vince kept control of the match. They scored 34 runs and 29 runs, respectively to take the team through. The target was chased down in seven overs with eight wickets to spare.
Match 25- Morrisville Samp Army vs Deccan Gladiators
Johnson Charles and Karim Janat got Morrisville Samp Army to a flying start, with the former scoring a half-century. The latter played a short cameo of 21 runs in just 11 balls. David Miller also played a cameo of 35 runs in 13 balls, while Charles scored 58 runs in 28 balls to set a target of 127 for the Deccan Gladiators.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore also got some good runs in the chase, but he did not get much support from his teammates. He scored 41 runs in 21 balls, but it wasn’t enough to get the team through. They eventually lost the match by 12 runs, having scored 107 runs.
