Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain transfer news: West Ham & Aston Villa lead Man Utd in race for Liverpool outcast

WEST HAM and Aston Villa are the frontrunners to sign Liverpool outcast Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

That’s according to bookmakers Paddy Power who make the pair 3/1 favourites to sign the former Arsenal man.

Oxlade-Chamberlain graduated from the Southampton academy and they are priced at 7/1 to re-sign their former youngster according to Paddy Power.

The 28-year-old endured a tough season last year at Anfield, starting only nine league games all season – only one since January – and hasn’t completed 90 minutes on any occasion.

The midfielder has spent five years in Merseyside since signing for £35million from Arsenal in 2017, winning the Premier League and Champions League during his spell.

With only a year left on his contract, Liverpool will likely try and sell him this summer for a fee rather than lose him next year for free.

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined the Saints academy as a seven-year-old back in 2000 and became the second youngest appearance maker for the club, behind only Theo Walcott, when he was 16.

He left them to join Arsenal for £12million as a 17-year-old and won three FA Cups and three Community Shields during his six years under Arsene Wenger.

Manchester United were favourites to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain at the beginning of this month before Leicester City moved to a short price.

That potential Old Trafford switch has cooled somewhat as they have drifted from 3/1 out to 4/1 but are still in the mix.

Leicester have moved out to 11/2.

West Ham will be in Europe again next term after finishing seventh in the league.

They narrowly missed out on the Europa League again after reaching the semi-final last season. They were just pipped by United by two points and will play in the Conference League and missed out on Jesse Lingard who joined Nottingham Forest.

You can get Newcastle at 11/1 with the Toon set for a busy end to the summer, with Premier League new boys Fulham in at 14/1.
