Andy Murray’s US Open dreams come crashing down in third round in four sets defeat to Matteo Berrettini
ANDY MURRAY has crashed out of the US Open after being beaten by Matteo Berrettini in four sets.
The 35-year-old’s tournament has come to an end in the third round after being defeated 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 by his Italian opponent.
Three-time Grand Slam champion impressed against Berrettini, but was ultimately no match for the 13th seed.
It was the first time that the Scottish star had made it into the third round at Flushing Meadows in six years.
And should he have beaten Berrettini, he would have been into the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time since 2017.
