In a piece of shocking and disappointing news for Indian cricket fans, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. Initially at the time of the squad announcement, the 28-year-old was picked by the squad Indian team management on the recommendation of the All India Senior Selection committee.

The Indian Cricket Board advised through the official release about the inclusion of Bumrah in the squad of the men in blue.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has included pacer Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming Mastercard 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Bumrah was out of cricketing action since September 2022 and was also ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to a back injury. The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon,” read the official statement issued by the Indian Cricket Board.

But later on, in a recent line of developments, the Board cleared the air and informed that they’ll not rush to have Bumrah’s services for the national team and he will be rested from the three-match ODI series against the Islanders.

Although this news and Indian Cricket Board’s decision didn’t go down well with a section of the Indian Cricket fans. They immediately took to Twitter and called out the star pacer for not being available for national duty. While some of the fans went to the extent of saying that Bumrah would be fine by the commencement of the cash-rich Indian T20 League but not for the national team.

Meanwhile, there are also a few media that have learned that Bumrah might be available for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. But the National Cricket Academy of Bengaluru is yet to confirm the development of Bumrah’s recovery from the injury.
