The Washington Commanders said Wednesday that they’ve retained Bank of America Securities “to consider potential transactions,” after a report by Forbes said they made the move to explore selling all or part of the team.
“The Snyders remain committed to the team, all of its employees and its countless fans,” the team said in the statement.
Snyder has been at least a majority owner of the team since May 1999. He had previously said that he would never explore the selling of the team.
“This could mean anything from taking on a minority owner to selling the whole team,” said WTOP Sports’ Dave Preston.
Bringing on a minority owner would give Snyder the infusion of cash that could help him in the construction of a new stadium, something he’s long sought, Preston added.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
