CRISTIANO RONALDO is expected to leave Manchester United in January.

And bookmakers Betfair have responded by installing Ronaldo’s boyhood club Sporting Lisbon as frontrunners for his signature.

There’s been a seismic fallout to Ronaldo’s explosive interview with presenter Piers Morgan.

In the interview, which airs on TalkTV on Wednesday and Thursday, Ronaldo spoke of being betrayed and disrespected by the club.

He also reveals that manager Erik Ten Hag and others in the club’s hierarchy are trying to force him out.

Manchester United were forced to issue a statement, but said they would NOT respond to Ronaldo’s comments until the “full facts have been established”.

The 37-year-old has now jetted off with Portugal ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, where he received a frosty reception from colleague Bruno Fernandes.

The Red Devils are next in action when they take on Burnley in the Carabao Cup on December 20.

But Ronaldo may already have played his last game for United after fresh claims the club will look to terminate his contract.

Betfair believe a return to Portugal with Sporting Lisbon is the most likely scenario at 3/1.

Ronaldo’s mum Dolores Aveiro has always predicted her son would return to the José Alvalade Stadium, where he netted five goals in 31 appearances in 2012/13.

Chelsea are next in the betting market at 4/1 with owner Todd Boehly having previously shown interest.

Boehly spoke with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes during the summer, but then manager Thomas Tuchel vetoed the proposal.

A move Stateside with any MLS club is offered at 6/1, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli, who are locked together at 12/1.

Roma, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Newcastle, Arsenal and Real Madrid are the other contenders in Betfair’s market.
