England’s Predicted Playing XI vs India, India Tour Of England 2022, 3rd ODI

[ad_1]

England will take on India in the third ODI match at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday (July 10). The three-match T20I series is currently tied at 1-1 with both teams will give their best to win the series on Sunday (July 17).

England suffered a heavy loss against Rohit Sharma & co in the first ODI at The Oval. Indian pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah rattled England to bowl them out for 110 in 25.2 overs. Barring skipper Jos Buttler, no other England batter looked confident in stroke making. However, Buttler also fell prey to Mohammed Shami in the temptation to score boundaries and pile up big runs.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma (76*) and Shikhar Dhawan (31*) made the chase very short in 18.4 overs with their fourth 100-plus stand in six innings at The Oval.

England were in a very similar precarious situation in the second game,  with their top five batters back in the hut at one point, before their lower middle order bailed them out from another calamity.

Moeen Ali (47) had two important partnerships – first, he joined forces with Liam Livingstone in a 46-run stand before adding another 62 with David Willey (41) – to push the score to 246 in the first innings. England pacer Reece Topley bowled his career-best figures 6 for 24 as the visitors were bowled out for 146 at Lord’s.

England have released Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Philip Salt (Lancashire) and Matt Parkinson (Lancashire) to play the knockout matches of the T20 Blast in Birmingham on Saturday (July 16) only to return back to the national side for the series-decider in Manchester. All three players haven’t featured in any of the ODI matches in this series so far.

England squad for ODI series against India: Jos Buttler (c & wk), Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, David Willey, Reece Topley, Brydon Carse, Craig Overton, Matthew Parkinson, Sam Curran, Philip Salt, Harry Brook.

1. Jason Roy

Roy went for a nought in the first match after attempting to play a cover drive off Jasprit Bumrah’s inswinging delivery only to find an inside edge that crashed into the stumps. Roy looked comfortable at the start of the innings but was out to Hardik Pandya after hitting a couple of fours and a six at Lord’s. The England opener definitely needs big innings before critics pinpoint him over his barren run.
