A girl and a dog died and a woman is seriously hurt following a house fire in Falls Church, Virginia, according to emergency responders.

A girl is dead and a woman is seriously hurt following a house fire in Falls Church, Virginia, early Tuesday, according to emergency responders.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue say it responded to the fire in the 6600 block of Barrett Road around 1:45 a.m.



In total, two people and a dog were taken out of the single-family home, according to the fire department., according to the fire department.

The woman is in critical condition and the girl died at the hospital. Though the girl’s exact age hasn’t been share publicly, the fire department described her as a “preteen” to WTOP.

The dog pulled from the flames later died.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
