Federal officer opens fire, kills 1 inside DC Metro station

One person is dead after a shooting inside the Metro Center Metro station Wednesday evening.
One person is dead after a shooting inside the Metro Center Metro station Wednesday evening.
According to Metro, a federal officer was involved in that shooting, which happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. on a Red Line platform.
“Preliminarily, it appears a federal officer opened fire and fatally struck one individual,” Metro said in a brief statement. “The officer involved has been transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.”
As of 7:52 p.m., Red Line trains service is single tracking as D.C. police homicide detectives investigate the shooting. Additional trains will be providing additional service short of Farragut North and Gallery Place.
