Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag to block Facundo Pellistri loan transfer in huge blow to Watford and Valencia

ERIK TEN HAG is set to block Facundo Pellistri’s loan exit in order to keep him at Manchester United.

The Uruguayan forward, 21, has not started for the Red Devils so far this season and only made his first-team debut last week against Charlton in the Carabao Cup.

He only got a six-minute cameo and his lack of game time has led to speculation that he could be about to depart Old Trafford.

Pellistri did go to the World Cup with Uruguay and started their goalless draw with South Korea.

And his agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, claimed before the Qatar tournament that he would depart Man Utd if he impressed in the Middle East.

Pellistri joined from Penarol for £9million in 2020 but has been farmed out on loan to Alaves on two separate occasions.

We reported this month how Championship promotion chasers Watford want to secure his services for the rest of the campaign.

And Valencia are also interested in bringing the South American back to Spain.

However, United Muppetiers are reporting that boss Ten Hag will not allow him to depart – even though he was not part of the squad for the Manchester derby win over City.

They claim that the club will not make any further signings this month following striker Wout Weghorst’s arrival, and that the lack of new additions is why they will keep Pellistri.

Speaking last week about the attacker, Ten Hag said: “I see a future in him. He is doing really well and we have to see what is best [for him]. He is progressing.

“I was happy with his performance at the World Cup so his progress is really good and now he is coming on and has an effect.

“So that’s the next step that I say: ‘Well done, Pelli, keep going’.”
