Man Utd news LIVE: United’s stock soars by £336m after Glazers statement, Ronaldo SACKED by Red Devils – latest

[ad_1]

Morning, United fans

One legend gone, one owner to go?

After announcing Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, United confirmed the equally-spectacular development that the Glazers might sell up.

Ronaldo, 37, had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

That means he goes without the £11.5million wages for the remaining seven months of his deal.

Chelsea are narrow favourites ahead of old club Sporting Lisbon to sign the Portugal hero after the World Cup.

United thanked Ron for his “immense contribution” over his two spells and he insisted he still “loves” the club.

But former Old Trafford superstars Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand rated the departure inevitable after he claimed United “betrayed” him during his blunt TalkTV interview with Sun columnist Piers Morgan.

Meanwhile, United and the Glazers both confirmed all options are being assessed to boost the club’s “growth” – including new investment or a total buy-out

Transfer-wise, the Red Devils are said to be favourites ahead of Liverpool to sign Holland winger Cody Gakpo.

The PSV hero, 23, could cost at least £43m.

That’s at least half the sum Jude Bellingham might fetch in the unlikely event United win the race for the England midfielder.
