Pakistan faces Hong Kong in a must-win game in match 6 of Asia Cup 2022 in Sharjah on September 2. This is the last league game before the Super 4 stage begins on September 3. Hong Kong, Pakistan and India make up group A. Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are placed in Group B. All the matches will be played in Dubai and Sharjah.

Pakistan and Hong Kong were both beaten by India and thus the match between them becomes a shootout. Whoever loses the match will be eliminated from the tournament while the other team will make it through to Super 4. Talking about head-to-head Hong Kong and Pakistan are yet to play a T20I game against each other. So far Pakistan has won all the three ODIs they played against Hong Kong.

Asia Cup 2022 will be hosted by Sri Lanka in UAE. A total of 13 matches will take place during the tournament. India is the defending champions of the tournament, which won the title back in 2018 by defeating Bangladesh in the final. India has also won the most 7 Asia Cup titles so far. Sri Lanka comes next with 5 titles while Pakistan has won 2 titles.

This Asia Cup edition will be played in the 20-20 format given that this is the year of the T20 World Cup. During the group stage, each team will play one match against the teams in their group.

The top 2 teams from both groups will qualify for the super four round. During the super 4 round, each team will play one match against the other. The top two teams will qualify for the final which will be played in Dubai on September 11.

The hot and humid conditions of Dubai and Sharjah are taking a toll on the players. The conditions are expected to remain the same throughout the tournament. Pakistan vs Hong Kong game starts at 6 pm local time on Friday, September 2. The temperature in the evening is expected to be around 31 degrees with humidity as high as 70 per cent. There is no chance of any rain. 

Sharjah has hosted 26 T20Is so far and only one game so far in this Asia Cup campaign where Afghanistan chased down a score close to 130. A score between 150 to 160 will be a challenging score at that venue given there is much more help for spinners and the bigger dimensions of the ground.
