Rahul Dravid to be sacked as Indian Head Coach after WC 2023, replacement named – Reports

Current Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has been on the receiving end of trolls and criticism from Indian cricket for the poor outings of the team of late. The team had a horrific run in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 followed by an embarrassing debacle against Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series in December 2022.

Meanwhile, the media reports have learned that the Indian Cricket Board has shortlisted the name for the next head coach of the men in blue after Dravid’s contract ends in 2023 with the team.

The Board might appoint former stylish Test batter and currently the NCA head, VVS Laxman as the new coach of the national team of India.

“Has that happened in Indian cricket before?” an Indian Cricket Board official was quoted as saying according to a report of News18 CricketNext. He came up with this answer to a question about split coaching in the different formats of the game.

Notably, the 48-year-old NCA head Laxman had been there with the team in capacities of head coach in the absence of regular head coach Rahul Dravid. The former went with the team on the tour of Zimbabwe in June 2022 followed by the first T20I of the three-match T20I series against England and Ireland tour of the two-match T20I series as well.
