” I think the openers did a good job, we discussed that we needed that opening partnership for the start. Today, that was the key and that’s why we chased down this total. I thought of promoting myself, but from the team’s point I have to sacrifice to come down and play as a finisher. My first priority is for the team. I think Chamika’s run out, we thought the game was gone. But Asitha Fernando scored those two shots very well, these guys have so much potential. It is lovely to see” he said.

The hot and humid conditions of Dubai and Sharjah are taking a toll on the players. The conditions are expected to remain the same throughout the tournament. The Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka game starts at 6 pm local time on Saturday, September 3. The temperature in the evening is expected to be around 31 degrees with humidity as high as 60 per cent. There is no chance of any rain.

Sharjah has hosted 26 T20Is so far and only one game so far in this Asia Cup campaign where Afghanistan chased down a score close to 130. A score between 150 to 160 will be a challenging score at that venue given there is much more help for spinners and the bigger dimensions of the ground.
