Suresh Raina, who retired from international cricket on 15 August 2020, will no longer play domestic cricket for the Uttar Pradesh or IPL. He has informed the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and the Indian Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI).

In some ways, he can be regarded to have retired from domestic cricket after his international career. He is now seen playing in the country and international cricket leagues.

In a 13-year international career, Raina played for India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20Is. He also had the honour of momentarily leading the group as captain. For India, Raina scored 5615 runs in 226 ODIs and 1605 runs in 78 T20Is. Raina, who hit a century on his Tests debut, is the first Indian to score hundreds in all three of the game’s formats, and all three of his hundreds came from outside of India.

Suresh Raina wants to play cricket for the next two to three years:

Raina has made a significant impact on CSK’s four times IPL champions. CSK’s parent company, India Cement, has bought the Johannesburg Super Kings team in the inaugural season of the T20 league to be hosted in South Africa.

Raina told Dainik Jagran that “He wants to play cricket for the next two to three years. Now that good players have arrived in Uttar Pradesh, they are managing the team efficiently. I obtained a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the UPCA.”

“This was also communicated to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Vice President Rajiv Shukla. I am grateful to BCCI and UPCA for their support thus far. Now I am free to play in the remaining leagues.”
