‘Time to move on’ – Bernd Leno issues emotional message to Arsenal fans after completing £8m Fulham transfer

After four years in North London, he made the decision to leave Arsenal in search of regular first-team football ahead of this year’s World Cup.

He is now set to become the new No.1 at Craven Cottage.

Following the official announcement of his departure on Tuesday, Leno took the time to thank Arsenal fans with a touching post on social media.

A statement read: “Hey Arsenal fans, it’s time to move on for me.

“It’s been a pleasure to be part of this great football club for four amazing years.

“Thank you very much for your support.

“Also a big thank you to my team mates and the staff behind the team. I‘m looking forward to see you soon!”

It won’t be long before Leno has the chance to reunite with his former teammates as Arsenal are set to host Fulham in a Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium on August 27.

Mikel Arteta has been busy building his new-look squad over the past few months in preparation for the new season.

The Spaniard has already introduced Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer, but he has hinted that more business is yet to be completed.

Following Arsenal’s final pre-season friendly against Sevilla on Saturday, he said: “I am happy with where the squad is now but we are still hoping to do something else if the market allows.”
