“Venkatesh Iyer Looks Quite Ok Now” – TNCA Official Says The All-rounder Is Fine After Being Hit On The Neck
A Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) official has told Cricbuzz that the Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer is fine after being hit on the neck during the Duleep Trophy game in Coimbatore on Friday, September 16.
Venkatesh Iyer, who is representing Central Zone in the inter-zonal competition, went off to the mark with a six off bowler Chintan Gaja. Next ball, Iyer played it right back to the bowler and Gaja picked the ball and threw it back at Iyer in anger, hitting the batter on the head and Iyer immediately collapsed to the ground. Also, he was declared retired hurt.

The Madhya Pradesh all-rounder was taken to the hospital after the incident and was later discharged after customary scans. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Iyer asserted that he is absolutely fine.
“I was hit below my ear. It was a shock initially but I am absolutely fine,” Iyer told Cricbuzz from Coimbatore.
When asked whether he will be able to play the second innings. He stated:
“I don’t know, I have been kept under 24-hour observation. I will have to see how things go.”

Meanwhile, a TNCA official said that the all-rounder is back in the team hotel and he “looks quite ok”
“He is fine and back in the team hotel. I have spoken to him and he looks quite ok now,” an official of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), who was at the ground when the incident took place, told Cricbuzz on Friday (September 16) evening.
“It was a relief that there was no concussion. He did not feel dizzy and he looked fine. But he went off the field and the doctors on duty attended to him. He came back to bat again. After he got out, he was taken to the Kauvery Hospital in the city and all things appeared normal. He has sounded fine,” said the TNCA official, who has returned to Chennai since.
