Virat Kohli Informed Selectors That He Would Be Available From Asia Cup- Reports
Former India captain Virat Kohli has been left out of the squad for the three-match One-Day International series against Zimbabwe, which takes place from August 18-22.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed a 15-man team to face Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series next month on Saturday, July 30th.
Shikhar Dhawan remains the team’s captain (Rohit Sharma is taking a break), but first-team players like KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are still missing. Rahul had clarified on his official Twitter account that a Covid-19 infection had caused his recuperation to be put on hold, but Kohli’s absence remained a mystery.
According to multiple reports, Kohli may return to the team for the ODI series against Zimbabwe because the top batter is still having trouble with his form. After the 2022 Indian Premier League, Kohli returned to international competition, and in six innings across all forms, he had a 20 as his highest score.
‘Virat Kohli had spoken to selectors’: Reports
For the West Indies tour, the former India captain took a break, and according to the news agency PTI, Kohli will likely be back in action for the Asia Cup the following month.
“Virat informed the selection committee that he would be available following the Asia Cup. From the Asia Cup till the end of the World T20, the first team players will not get much relaxation. Consequently, they have two weeks following the Windies tour to rest “an insider told PTI.
The Harare Sports Club will serve as the venue for all three One-Day Internationals between India and Zimbabwe. Four days after the Zimbabwe tour is over, the Asia Cup starts (August 27).
