Volvo Teases EV SUV for 2023 Launch

[ad_1]

Volvo is currently launching the EX90 electric SUV — this may explain a sudden influx of social-media posts I’ve seen from Sweden over the past few days — and apparently, the brand snuck a news nugget into its presentation.

Well, it wasn’t totally sneaky — CEO Jim Rowan went out of his way to note that viewers should look closely and they’d see a teaser silhouette.

Volvo is saying that it will be transitioning to an all-EV lineup by 2030. We at TTAC have been skeptical that the transition will happen in eight short years, but if it does, this smaller EV SUV could be called the EV60, and Autoblog speculates it could be an XC60 replacement — or perhaps a separate, smaller model.

Volvo will need to fill a lot of size/class niches if it’s going to go all EV by 2030 — or by any year, really — and an EX60 could nicely fill that bill.
