World’s best racehorse: Baaeed knocked off No1 spot 24 hours after pulling out of the Arc as Flightline soars to the top
BAAEED has officially lost his title as world’s best racehorse – 24 hours after it was announced he won’t run in the Arc de Triomphe.
The latest Longines rankings have been released and it is American sensation Flightline who has soared to the top.
This despite Baaeed trouncing a stellar field including globe-trotting superstar Mishriff when winning the Juddmonte at York last month.
Baaeed was one point ahead of Flightline last month but now sits four behind his big rival.
Australian sprint sensation and King’s Stand winner Nature Strip is ranked third.
American-trained Epicenter and Life Is Good share fourth spot on 125 points, one fewer than Nature Strip.

A load of British stars including Mishriff, Native Trail and Real World just miss out on making the top ten.
Flightline took top spot after his amazing 19-and-a-half-length win in the Grade 1 TVG Pacific Classic Stakes in Del Mar earlier this month.
The John Sadler-trained four-year-old colt is unbeaten in five races and has won just over £1million.
Baaeed, trained by William Haggas, had flirted with making his last ever race a blockbuster in the Arc de Triomphe in Paris on October 2.
But Haggas yesterday confirmed the Champion Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day 13 days later is the plan.
He said: “After much consultation with Sheikha Hissa and her team we have decided that Baaeed’s final start will be in the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 15.
“He was very impressive in the Juddmonte International and it was only right that we explored every option.
“I, in particular, was keen to keep him to a mile and a quarter, therefore the Champion Stakes was the only logical solution.
“I understand many will be disappointed he’s not running in the Arc but we can’t do both and Ascot it will be.”
Top bookie Geoff Banks was one of many who slated Haggas’ decision not to run the horse in the £2.6million feature.
He tweeted: “Why am I not surprised Baaeed not going for his natural route – as proven by a dominating staying performance at York – for the Arc?
“As usual – UK’s ‘top’ trainers plug the safe route and a line of 1’s against trees
“Honestly, they don’t deserve such horses.”
