India and Sri Lanka locked horns in a one-sided affair during the third and last of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The hosts’ skipper Rohit Sharma had an upper hand at the time of the toss and elected to bat first at the tricky and tough surface of the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
Batting first, the men in blue posted a big total of 390 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs courtesy of the two brilliant centuries from Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli respectively.
While defending the target, the Indian bowling lineup led by the pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj, completely outmuscled the visitors’ batting lineup and bundled them up only on the score of 73 runs in 22 overs.
The fans also went overjoyed after this mammoth victory of Rohit Sharma’s men and the 3-0 series win against Sri Lanka. #QuickByte: In ODIs, 73 is the lowest total for Sri Lanka against India.
Previously, they were all out for 96 twice, in 1984 at Sharjah and in 2013 at Port of Spain.#INDvSL #CricketTwitter #INDvsSL

India won by 317 runs against Sri Lanka. & Sri Lanka’s 73/9 is a tribute for our champ #ViratKohli‘s 73rd international century.
Tribute for 74th century was just missed, because of one retired hurt in Sri Lanka’s XI.
What you say mama @daniel86cricket ? 😂#INDvSL #ViratKohli𓃵

Talking about the entire action of the match, the Indian team got a good start of 95 runs for the first wicket by the opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and young batter Shubman Gill. Later on, Gill completed his second ODI century to score 116 runs off 97 balls with 14 boundaries and two sixes with his willow. He also stitched a 131-run partnership for the second wicket with former skipper and veteran batter Virat Kohli. After the departure of Gill off Kasun Rajitha in the 34th over, Virat Kohli stood there in the middle to complete his century of 166 runs off 110 balls including 13 boundaries and two sixes to his name.
The 34-year-old also made another 100+ partnership with Shreyas Iyer for the third wicket before the latter fell prey to Lahiru Kumara in the 46th over when the team had scored 334 runs.
While chasing the target, the Sri Lankan batting lineup completely surrendered against the Indian bowling attack and got all out only on the score of 73 runs in 22 overs.
Eventually, India won the match by a mammoth margin of 317 runs and clinched the series by a clean sweep margin of 3-0 with a winning hat-trick in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
