‘You are just outdated’ – Fans slam Mohammed Azharuddin for his remarks on India’s squad for 20-20 World Cup 2022

Former legendary Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin is once again on the receiving end of criticism from Indian cricket fans. It all happened when Azharuddin happened to express his views on the selected squad of the Indian team for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup to be held in Australia next month in October.

“Surprised at the omission of Shreyas Iyer and Md. Shami from the main squad. Shreyas Iyer instead of Deepak Hooda and Md. Shami in the place of Harshal Patel would be my choice,” said Azharuddin while opining on the Indian squad for the marquee tournament.

Although, this analysis from the former Indian skipper didn’t go down well with some Indian cricket fans. They immediately took to Twitter for giving a wake-up call to one of the successful skippers of team India in the longest format of the game.

Speaking a bit more about the squad of the Indian team for the World Cup 2022, then the senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has already been ruled out of the tournament due to his knee injury. But apart from that, the comeback of senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel arrived as a good piece of news for the Indian cricket fans.

Looking at a few more omissions and additions, then young spinner Ravi Bishnoi had to miss out of the squad. It is because selectors showed their trust in the legendary all-rounder and experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Other than this, Indore-born young pacer Avesh Khan was edged out due to his poor outings in the recently-concluded 15^th edition of the Asia Cup.

Along with the 20-20 World Cup 2022, the selectors also happened to pick the squad for the upcoming two T20I assignments against Australia and South Africa respectively. Although, Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar who have been edged out of the World Cup squad, have earned the call in the team for the bilateral T20I clashes against Australia and South Africa.

Looking at the recent outing for the men in blue then they got knocked out of the Asia Cup 2022 after losing two consecutive matches in the super-4 round against Pakistan and then Sri Lanka.
